This piece was written especially for Katherine (see upcoming article in Classicfm magazine) and was recorded in London and Prague over the course of the Summer. I am thrilled with the result. When Poppies Fall

On 3rd. March, the Colchester-based Band of the Parachute Regiment recorded my recent composition, 'When Poppies Fall', which is to be the title track of an album of remembrance music to be released this autumn, with proceeds going to various service charities.
Having been born in the garrison town of Colchester and lived there for most of my life, I have always been keenly aware of the bravery and sacrifices our servicemen and women make on our behalf. My feelings in this regard were further strengthened when I heard firsthand accounts from a friend of my son, who has served on the frontline with the ‘Paras’ in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
Walking my dog recently with these matters on my mind, I noticed a single poppy growing in a field, and the title of the song sprang into my mind in that instant, so on returning home, I set about writing the song.
It is therefore completely fitting that the Band of the Parachute Regiment has chosen to record the song, and I look forward to its release later this year.
